Movie Review - 'Alpha Dog' (2006)

A group of suburban 'little-stone-throwing' drugdealing near-adults (among others Timberlake and Hirsch) decide to kidnap the little brother of a frantic wired out low-life customer (Foster) after the latter fails to pay his large outstanding tab.
Overall, dierctor Nick Cassavetes in part succeeds portraying this profile type of teen living in the end-nineties adopting a lifestyle focused solely on partying, pot-smoking, sex and your occasional small-time drug-running. Disregardless, the abundance of characters and their play throughout the movie cloud the storyline especially at the beginning and bring the movie to unnecessary length.
Stand out performance though by Timberlake depicting the character of one of the weaker-harted teens whose conciousness turns guilty at the near-end of the kidnapping. Add Foster to the list who plays a deranged drug-taking addict wilding out. He overplays his character a bit (just as Stone does) but is extremely funny.
Last, Bruce Willis is almost brilliantly disguised in his character as a mellowed out 70s Woodstock dad who pulls robust strings in the drug trafficking business.
In all, the movie is just bringing enough entertaining momentum (but too lenghty with a crowded screenplay), the storyline is a bit played out focusing on the usual themes of sex and drugs and the story itself is, unfortunately, appallingly true as the kidnapping and resulting action happened in real life
